A New Look for HSPnet...

… is emerging and already visible on some screens. The “Not-so-extreme Makeover” of our user interface is a pleasant by-product of the .Net Migration and Language Duality (French Translation) projects that will result in a total rewrite of the code that controls how your browser draws and displays screens.

.Net Migration will result in a cleaner, more modern look for HSPnet screens.  As a screen is rewritten it will also be reviewed for opportunities to improve usability and to make all screens more consistent.  The introduction of .Net will also introduce several “global” changes to the way HSPnet functions:

  • We can discontinue the use of “Edit/View Only” switches that were needed for performance reasons on Inbox/Outbox and Cohorts, because .Net allows HSPnet to update a single record at a time, rather than refreshing the entire screen.  This makes the database and network faster for all users and as a side-benefit, your main screen will “stay put” after you edit a record rather than returning to the top.
  • Adding and Editing a record displays a new floating (moveable) popup rather than an add/edit space on the main screen.  This gives us more room to organize the add/edit fields, and allows us to display specific instructions for the selected task.
  • The interrelated projects for .Net Migration and Language Duality will continue throughout the fall and winter, with full translation of core screens to be completed for the launch of HSPnet-QC in January or February 2010.

We hope you like the emerging new look of HSPnet.  As always, we welcome your feedback and ideas for improving the way HSPnet looks and works. Please let us know your thoughts at support@hspcanada.net.
