Two New HSPnet Modules Funded via Round One of BC's Practice Education Innovation Fund (PEIF)

Thanks to the Practice Education Innovation Fund established this year by the Ministry of Advanced Education and administered by the BC Academic Health Council, two exciting new HSPnet modules will be funded for development during 2005/06:

Capacity Manager (CM) - This feature will allow Receiving Agencies to set target student capacity at the level of a Destination or unit, and then to aggregate or "rollup" this capacity at the level of a service, site, or the entire health authority. HSPnet will then be able to report on utilization of that capacity from data on accepted placements, and to assist Placing and Receiving agencies to identify available capacity during scheduling and program planning activities. Development of the CM module is sponsored by the Nursing Interschool-Interagency Committee of the BC Lower Mainland, and other disciplines will be consulted on their design requirements during development.

Practice Education Toolkit (PET) - Sponsored by the BC Health Authorities Practice Education Collaborative, this module will help to optimize practice education capacity through collaborative development and dissemination of a policy and 'best practices' framework. The framework will allow each province to publish policies and guidelines across health authorities/regions and disciplines as appropriate, while recognizing the need for variations according to regional, site, and disciplinary needs and priorities. Adoption of the framework will be supported by integrating access to the toolkit with HSPnet.
