HSPnet Feasibility Study of HSPnet in Western Canada
One-day Summits have been scheduled in the four Western provinces to study the feasibility of a Western Canada HSPnet collaboration:
|
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - April 13, 2005 |
|
Winnipeg, Manitoba - April 14, 2005 |
|
Edmonton, Alberta - April 20, 2005 |
| Vancouver, British Columbia - April 28, 2005 Location - TBA |
Summit Objectives:
- To identify the common practice education needs and challenges of the Western provinces and territories that could be addressed through HSPnet and/or IRP;
- To assess the ability of HSPnet and IRP to address those needs and challenges;
- To quantify the one-time and ongoing costs of implementing HSPnet and IRP in Western Canada;
- To identify the structures and processes that would provide ongoing governance and management of a Western Canadian consortium or partnership; and
- To develop a recommended Action Plan to guide next steps.
The results of each Summit will be circulated to participants for feedback and will guide completion of the Final Report, to include the cost-benefit analyses if Summit participants agreed that this analysis should continue. The Final Report will include:
- Summary of Summit proceedings, including identified needs and challenges, and the potential fit of HSPnet and/or IRP in meeting those needs;
- Estimated one-time costs to implement each initiative in jurisdiction expressing an interest;
- One or more sustainability options for covering the ongoing jurisdiction-specific and collective (shared infrastructure) costs;
- Recommendations regarding governance and management structures and processes to support the partnership;
- Recommended action plan.
The draft Final Report would then be circulated to participants
for feedback prior to submission to Health Canada as a request for
Phase 2 (Implementation) funding.
