HSPnet Pilot Underway!

Judy Lee from Kwantlen NursingApril 15 2003 was an "historic" moment for HSPnet, when Judy Lee from Kwantlen Nursing entered her user ID and password and became the first user to access the live HSPnet system. No longer a test system, the Pilot version of HSPnet contains actual data on students, instructors, and agency contacts for Pilot Participants, which include:

  • UBC Nursing
  • UBC Rehabilitation Sciences (PT)
  • Fraser Health Authority - Surrey Memorial Hospital
  • Providence Health Care

  • BC Women's

Pilot participants are involved in user training, setup and data entry, and Pilot evaluation during May, when the Placement Requests cycle will be re-enacted for the Winter 2003 time period (January to April 2003). By the end of May 2003 they will have completed the full cycle of creating and sending placement requests, accepting/declining for the Receiving Agency, and confirming for the school, and will be ready to proceed with the Winter 2004 placements now in planning. Some agencies are planning to use HSPnet to enter historical data for 2003 and even earlier years to support program planning and trend analysis.

Full encryption and other security tools are now in place, ensuring appropriate protection to personal information stored in HSPnet. We are now working on enhanced tools such as reports, split/linked placements for alternate/observation experiences, and the much anticipated Calendar View.

Other agencies are now making plans to implement HSPnet during the summer months, and addition training sessions are being offered for them in May and June. If you would like more information about participating in HSPnet after the Pilot, please contact us at mailto:info@hspcanada.net.
